Cadillac has decided not to implement any further evo updates for its LMDh prototype during the 2027 seasons of the World Endurance Championship and the IMSA SportsCar Championship. This information has been confirmed by its factory partner, Jota Sport.
Since its debut in 2023, the Cadillac V-Series.R model has undergone two major revisions. The first, introduced in early 2025, focused on improving the electronic systems, while a second, more extensive revision was carried out this year to refine the aerodynamics and incorporate Brembo brake systems.
So far, Cadillac has utilized three of the five evo updates assigned to the vehicle within its five-year lifecycle. This decision has sparked a debate among manufacturers, as although there would be two options available for the 2028 and 2029 seasons, there did not seem to be incentives to reserve the updates.
Jota team chief Sam Hignett noted that Cadillac has opted not to make any further updates, as the 2026 revision already represents a significant progress. ‘No, we do not expect more updates in 2027. We have used all our main jokers, but we still have a few left,’ Hignett stated.
However, Hignett clarified that the competition will not remain completely static, with minor improvements scheduled in the name of safety and reliability. ‘There are always small adjustments that can be made, we continue learning and optimizing this year’s evolution, so there is still room for improvement over the winter.’
Cadillac has had a standout year with its LMDh, especially with the victory in the GTP manufacturers’ title for the first time since the introduction of these regulations in 2023, with Jack Aitken achieving the drivers’ title with the Action Express Racing team.
Despite the successes, 2027 is anticipated to be a much more intense competitive landscape, with new teams like Ford and McLaren entering, as well as significant updates from rivals like Ferrari and Peugeot. Hignett downplayed concerns over these enhancements, stating that the team will focus on its own progress.
