Sébastien Buemi won his third race of the season at the Battersea Park, London. This victory pushes the Swiss up to 2nd place in the Championship with real chances of winning tomorrow. D’Ambrosio was 2nd and Vergne 3rd. Thanks to his fastest lap and 4th place, Di Grassi is still in the fight, while Piquet was 5th.
The first race in London was the first chance for some drivers to win the Championship. Piquet and the rookies Yamamoto and Turvey had the fan boost for the race.
Race control decided to start the race behind the Safety Car so that all the drivers could make it safely through the very narrow first corner. The first trying to overtake was Piquet, but he ended up having contact with Di Grassi’s car and losing 4th place with Vergne. The Frenchman managed to also overtake Di Grassi.
After the first pitstops, Abt and Sarrazin were having a very intense battle which ended up with Abt on the wall and the Safety Car on track.
There were 9 laps left when the race was resumed and the most interesting battle was between Di Grassi and Piquet for 4th place, but he was unable to overtake despite having the fan boost.
Behind, Sam Bird had more energy than the others and was able to overtake Nick Heidfeld, Loïc Duval and Nicolas Prost. He also won another position due to Senna’s penalty for speeding on the pitlane.
Sébastien Buemi won the race with Jérôme D’Ambrosio and Vergne completing the podium. The constructors championship was decided in this race, with eDams Renault as winners.
Piquet continues on the lead but only 5 points ahead of Buemi. Di Grassi is 3rd, 15 points behind, but still in the fight for the title.
