Sebastien Buemi lead the second free practice session ahead of Felix Rosenqvist and Jean-Eric Vergne.

Nicolas Prost was the first driver to head out for FP2. The rising temperatures made that Jean-Eric Vergne beat the fastest FP1 straight in his 200% lap and also beat WTCC’s pole position this year.

Ten minutes into the session, Vergne was still in the lead ahead of Loic Duval and Nelson Piquet Jr. Less drivers found themselves running off but lots of them still locked up in their laps. That did not give Felix Rosenqvist cold feet as he beat Vergne’s time by 0.7s halfway through the session and dipped under the 1:21.

In his first 200% lap, Lucas Di Grassi could not do better than P5. Meanwhile, Sebastien Buemi claimed the fastest time with five minutes to go. Di Grassi, Vergne and Evans were under investigation for speeding in the pitlane.

With four minutes to go, Sam Bird lost the rear at turn eight and badly damaged the car which implied a red flag and the end of the session.

Sebastien Buemi ended the session in the lead ahead of Felix Rosenqvist and Jean-Eric Vergne. Turvey, Duval, Abt, Piquet, Da Costa, Di Grassi and Heidfeld completed the top 10.
