Sebastien Buemi took the fastest time in the second free-practice session filled with spins and locks-up. Di Grassi and Vergne follow within less than 0.2s.

Nicolas Prost straight away went for a 200kw as many of his fellow drivers. Lucas Di Grassi was the fastest in the first stages of the session before Jean-Eric Vergne claimed the fastest time on his first 200kw lap. As well as in FP1, many drivers spun, slid or missed the apex.

Daniel Abt had to stop his car in the main straight briefly before starting again. Maro Engel, after his problems in FP1, managed to go P2 just before mid-session. With 12 minutes to go, Abt was the last driver to set a 200kw lap and went 2nd quickest with a purple third sector. Nick Heidfeld then went 2nd fastest less than 0.1s away from Vergne.

Despite many drivers going out for another 200kw, the order was not too much shaken up before the very last minutes of the session. The Andretti and the DS Virgin seemed to have a lot of troubles with spinning. Di Grassi went quickest than Vergne before Buemi took back the fastest time by little margins.

At the very end of the session, Lopez came back to the pits with a broken front right wheel by turning too short. Sébastien Buemi finished the session in the lead in front of Di Grassi and Vergne. Heidfeld, Abt, Piquet, Engel, Da Costa, Turvey and Duval completed the top 10.
