F3 racer Luke Browning will replace Zak O’Sullivan at ART for rest of F2 season after funding issues, but the latter remains part of Williams academy.

ART Grand Prix have confirmed that Luke Browning will replace Zak O’Sullivan for the final three rounds of the 2024 FIA Formula 2 season, starting in Baku this weekend. Browning makes the step to F2 following the completion of his Formula 3 campaign where he ended up third in the Drivers’ Championship.

He achieved two races wins this year, the first coming at the season-opening Feature Race in Sakhir, before also taking victory in the Spielberg Feature later in the year. Prior to that, the Williams Academy talent won the 2023 Macau Grand Prix after also tasting title success in the 2022 GB3 Championship and the 2020 British F4 Championship.

He is now set to graduate to Formula 2 for the final three rounds of the season with ART in Baku, Lusail, and Yas Marina. “Firstly, I want to thank ART GP and Williams Racing for all of the support they have given me,” said O’Sullivan after his departure. “This year we have had some incredible moments, multiple wins and a big highlight of winning the feature race in Monaco.

“Unfortunately in our sport, there are more factors at play than just the stopwatch. The simple issue comes down to funding, I won’t be able to complete this F2 season with ART GP. I’m gutted to not be able to show my talents for the rest of the year, but I want to say thank you to all of my sponsors, Williams Racing and all of the supporters who are alongside me during this journey.

“Your support has been invaluable and I can’t wait to be able to drive for you and with you again soon. What’s next? We’re working on it together with Williams Racing as a part of the academy, and let’s see what happens. But the support on here has been amazing to see just now. Thank you all.”
