Lewis Hamilton edged out Lando Norris by 0.023s margin to lead FP1 in F1 British GP, as Oscar Piastri rounded out the Top 3 places.

It was sunny to start the first day in F1 British GP, as home hero led a 1-2 in FP1 where Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton (1m26.892s) led the way by 0.023s margin over McLaren’s Lando Norris. It took him multiple tries after snaps on his initial fast lap. The Top 3 was rounded by Oscar Piastri.

The Ferrari pace was backed by Charles Leclerc in fourth, who could have a bit quicker considering traffic on one of his laps and a wide moment in the final corner in the other. Mercedes’ George Russell was fifth ahead of the Visa Cash App RB pair, who was broken up by Williams towards the end.

It was Isack Hadjar ahead in sixth with Liam Lawson in eighth, behind Alexander Albon. The Thai racer went for a late quick lap after they invested time on the hard tyre for long run preparation. Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli was ninth, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen managing only 10th.

The Dutchman complained of similar problems as he has despite an updated floor. The Aston Martin pair of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll slotted in 11th and 12th in a better show, as Williams’ Carlos Sainz improved to 13th after a late run. But he wanted help from team to understand his losses.

First of the FP1 runners was Arvid Lindblad in 14th in Yuki Tsunoda’s Red Bull. Haas’ Esteban Ocon was 15th, where he complained about broken pedal. Alpine’s Franco Colapinto was the lead driver of the F1 team in 16th ahead of the other FP1 runner Paul Aron in Nico Hulkenberg’s Sauber.

Haas’ Oliver Bearman was 18th ahead of two spinners in the Copse corner. It was Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, who initially had an off moment in the final corner. He followed it up with a high-speed in the right-hander exit, as Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto followed it up with a 360 degrees. The Brazilian was last after he couldn’t set a lap time on the soft tyre.
