British GP: Bottas ends fastest in FP3 ahead of Hamilton

British GP, F1

Mercedes ended up 1-2 as Valtteri Bottas led Lewis Hamilton in F1 British GP FP3 with Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen as third.

It was back normal as Mercedes ended up 1-2 where Bottas (1m25.873s) led Hamilton (1m26.011s) with Red Bull’s Verstappen (1m26.173s) finishing third beating Racing Point’s Lance Stroll (1m26.576s) in F1 British GP FP3 at Silverstone.

A late quick lap from McLaren’s Carlos Sainz (1m26.664s) helped him to be fifth with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (1m26.771s) doing well in sixth ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris (1m26.798s) and Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo (1m26.841s).

The Australian had a new chassis fitted to his car as Renault broke curfew after finding a hairline fracture after Friday sessions. Racing Point’s Nico Hulkenberg (1m26.872s) did well to be ninth on his second day as the two AlphaTauri drivers followed up.

It was Pierre Gasly (1m27.046s) in 11th from Daniil Kvyat (1m27.076s) as Renault’s Esteban Ocon (1m27.158s) was 12th with Red Bull’s Alexander Albon (1m27.178s) slotting in 13th. The Thai racer had to sit out most of the British GP FP3 session due to an ERS issue.

Red Bull managed to fix his chassis from FP2 crash but just as he was to head out in FP3, they spotted the ERS issue which they got it fixed within the session itself. Following Albon was Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel (1m27.251s), who faced paddle issues again.

Haas’ Romain Grosjean (1m27.537s) ended up 15th as Williams’ George Russell (1m27.738s) did well in 16th with Alfa Romeo Racing’s Antonio Giovinazzi (1m27.825s) 17th from Haas’ Kevin Magnussen (1m27.860s), Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen (1m27.976s) and Williams’ Nicholas Latifi (1m28.112s).
