Keanu Reeves is the latest name to be added to the list of F1 related entertainment projects with new docu series is reported involving Ross Brawn.
Reeves visited Silverstone for the F1 British GP and news around a project related to the sport started to circulate. Hollywood portal Variety has now reported that the project’s center figure is likely to be Brawn, who is one of the biggest figures in the sport.
The four-part untitled docu series is likely to be aired on Disney+ where Reeves will host the doc. Variety has so far named Luca di Montezemolo, Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello to be among the people to be interviewed.
While Disney+ has declined to confirm about the project but All3Media-owned North One Television is speculated to be producing the series which may air in the fall of 2023. “We want to tell that amazing remarkable story [of Brawn GP],” said Reeves during the British GP. “There is so much to talk about.
“A friend of mine was telling me the story and I was so struck by it and he was actually working for Brawn back in the day in publicity and he’s a producer/director and so we were like, well let’s tell that story, let’s try and tell that story.
“It’s been really great to be able to learn more about what was going on in Formula One that year. It wasn’t just the cars, new regulations, FOTA [the Formula One Teams Association], breakaway series. I mean there was just so much happening in Formula One at that time. The world of Formula One was just extraordinary. I mean, it’s always extraordinary, but in that year with Brawn GP I think something really special happened.”
