Gabriel Bortoleto pins his main highlights of F1 2025, while noting on the learning especially the technical side of things as a rookie.
Having had a slow start to his F1 2025 campaign, Sauber’s Bortoleto picked up pace as season progressed where he collected good highlights. Among several weekends where he performed excellent, the Brazilian picked up the Hungarian GP as his best.
“Main highlights? I mean, I cannot forget to say Budapest,” said Bortoleto to media. “I think it was so far my best race of the season. I think, great qualifying in Q3 and then making a move in lap one and then having very good management of the tyres and finishing the race in P6. It was great because I think there was pure pace and very enjoyable.
“There were many other races like Austria, first points, Monza, Spa. I think there were very good races as well,” summed up Bortoleto, who elaborated on the learning he had throughout the season on technical side of things. He recalled a chat with his engineer about pre-season test and how he felt in the final race of the F1 season.
“Yeah, I think, well, definitely on the racing side, it’s the technical side of things,” continued Bortoleto. “The amount of information I got through the year and learning I received as well from the engineers and studying and doing all of these things together. It was great. I feel like I was telling her just last year in post-season and now, last year I basically didn’t know anything.
“I didn’t have a clue what I wanted from the car, what I needed from the car. I was actually talking to my engineer. He was like, ‘do you remember anything from the test last year? Or how was the car feeling’? I said, ‘man, don’t ask me that now, like so long ago.
“And I had no understanding, so I don’t want to give you a wrong feedback on things. But because what I like on a car, let’s say, was not what I was running, for example. So that’s why he was asking me that. And I think this is one of the things,” summed up Bortoleto
