2013 GP2 Series. Round 5. Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England. 28th June. Friday Qualfiying. Sam Bird (GBR, RUSSIAN TIME). Portrait. World Copyright: Alastair Staley/GP2 Series Media Service. Ref: _R6T0806

Nothing changed from the beginning until there were still 24 laps to go and Daniel De Jong has been penalized for going through the pit lane due to lead a small collision.
On lap 5, Coletti and two more drivers pit-stopped, because it was convenient for them, because of the pace they had at the moment, they better kept that good level.
Bird fell to 13th, and Ericsson, condemned himself to a “drive through”.
Canamasas, the only Spanish present in GP2, was moving slowly and entered in the top 10.
Rossi set the fastest time in lap 8 right after visiting the pit lane. There were only 19 laps and Cecotto held his 6th position before the British driver Quaife-Hobs. In that time there have been a fight between two drivers. Mitch Evans, the only Australian in GP2, was also penalized.
Only 8 laps to go,and Bird was clearly dominant, thanks in part to a very good race strategy. 3rd was Coletti, in a considerable distance over the second, Stéphane Richelmi, while Ericsson was so far absent in the fight for victory.
The last 3 laps were very intense, especially for the driver from Rapax, Stefeno Coletti. He had many problems to defend himself from the French driver of Russian Time, Tom Dillman, and adding this, the first group was composed by five fast drivers.
There was only one lap to go and Coletti ran into Leimer and had to abandon the race.
Finally after a very crazy race, Sam Bird has been awarded a deserved win followed by Richelmi and Dillman. Now Marcus Ericsson will have to work hard for the Drivers Championship and score points tomorrow if he wants to keep the fight for the title.
