Marco Bezzecchi, Aprilia Racing rider, has shared that, despite his recovery from the injuries suffered at Sachsenring, the swelling in his left knee could cause him more suffering during the upcoming Aragón Grand Prix of MotoGP.
After suffering a fall in the German race, which resulted in a collarbone fracture and knee damage, Bezzecchi saw his title chances fade away. The summer break allowed him to undergo surgery without missing any more races, but he has not yet achieved complete recovery for the competition that will take place this weekend at MotorLand Aragón.
Although he proved he can be competitive despite the injury at the British Grand Prix, achieving two podiums, the Aragón circuit presents a greater challenge, as it was designed to favor his motorcycle’s rival, Ducati, which will have six bikes on the track.
On Tuesday, Bezzecchi commented on his condition: “I felt good at Silverstone, but it was very tough. After the race weekend, I struggled a lot with my knee. Although my shoulder is getting better, with my left knee, which was seriously injured and required surgery, I continue to have problems. This injury needs more time to heal.”
The arrival in Aragón marks the start of the most intense phase of the season, with ten races scheduled in just fourteen weekends. Bezzecchi sees this as an additional challenge, with little time for recovery, especially during the races in Asia-Pacific.
Finally, the Italian rider concluded: “It will be complicated. My other issues are resolving, but the knee remains swollen, hindering my movement. I will do everything I can to recover quickly, but I will have to suffer.”
