Marco Bezzecchi has expressed his confusion after finishing in twentieth place during the first practice session of the MotoGP in Brazil. The Aprilia Racing rider, winner of the Thai Grand Prix, faced difficulties that left him over two seconds behind the leader in a particularly complicated weekend in Goiania.
Bezzecchi finished just ahead of Raúl Fernández and Enea Bastianini in a session affected by rain. The Italian rider showed a rhythm that did not translate into results, as he will now have to go through Q1 to try to secure a good position on the grid.
In his statements, Bezzecchi indicated that the issue of lacking speed lies in a technical aspect, although the exact origin remains a mystery. “As for the morning, I felt good and quite fast,” he commented, but added that in the more adverse conditions of the afternoon, the problems became evident.
The team’s engineers are working intensively to analyze the reasons for this inconsistent performance. Bezzecchi mentioned that the absence of confidence in mixed conditions could have influenced his inability to adequately heat the Michelin tires, which prevents achieving the desired performance.
Paolo Bonora, the team manager, confirmed that several variables are being evaluated to identify the cause of the problems, while they hope to find solutions before Saturday’s qualifying. “We need to generate positive feelings in order to push and get the tires to the right temperature,” concluded Bonora.
