GP3 series grid is almost complete. Today, the pre season is starting and almost every team has all of their seats occupied to start the season in Barcelona the 12th of May. As of today, with Jenzer confirming its last two drivers, there is only two vacant seats: A Trident which could be for Pedro Piquet, and a MP Motorsport.

In only two days, Jenzer Motorsport has confirmed its GP3 line-up for the 2018. The team announced Tatiana Calderón as its first driver and today has completed the line-up with the announcement of Juan Manuel Correa and David Beckmann.

Correa already did the last four rounds of last season. However, his results were quite unsatisfactory, but this has not been a problem to renew him for the upcoming season.

The North American-Equatorian driver began his single seaters career in 2016, when he raced for Prema in ADAC and Italian F4. He achieved the best results on the Italian championship, where he won three races to finish the championship in sixth place. In Germany, he achieved a podium finish to finish the season in tenth position, which he repeated in 2017.

In the winter of this year, he did the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, where he finished fourth with two race wins.

“I learned a lot in 2017 and can’t wait to get started in the GP3 Series this season,” explained Correa. “My goal is to continue to improve on the experience that I gained last year and move up the grid. I had a great series in New Zealand where I was able to work with my same GP3 engineer that I had last year as well as will have in 2018. We made great use of the winter season to fine tune our teamwork and communication which will definitely help throughout the season.”

On the other hand, the team has signed David Beckmann, who joins the series after three years of single seaters experience.

Beckmann, aged 17, comes from two years in FIA F3 Europe, where his results were not the expected despite some great performances. He got two podium finishes in 2016, with Mücke Motorsports, as his best results. In 2017, he started racing for Van Amersfoort Racing and joined Motopark after three rounds, but was still unable to be constantly on the lead group.

Now we will try luck on GP3 Series, where he will try to find that regularity that was unable to find in F3. He already drove for Jenzer in the post season testing days in Abu Dhabi, and had positive feelings about the car and the series.

“To compete in the 2018 GP3 Series is an important step for me and doing so with Jenzer Motorsport is definitely the best choice.” Said Beckmann“The official tests in Abu Dhabi last December showed that we can work very well together and that the chemistry with Andreas Jenzer and his technical staff is just right. It’s going to be a demanding season with tough competition and I’m looking forward to this challenge. Particularly exciting is the very powerful environment, since the events are held together with FIA Formula 2 in the supporting program of FIA Formula 1.”

The 2018 GP3 Series season will begin the 12th of May at the Barcelona Catalunya Circuit. The official pre season testing has started today in Paul Ricard.
