Oliver Bearman admits making too many mistakes in first half of F1 2025 season, amid frustration of finishing P11 multiple times.

It started off well for Haas’ Bearman in 2025, but things slowed down after few highs. The competition grew and things went a bit downhill for the youngster. He had four races finishing P11 on the trot, which hurt the most, especially at a time when things started to look for better.

He had a points finish in sprint in the meantime, but it wasn’t enough. It was frustrating as he noted, but it didn’t let his confidence as he could replicate the pace he showed in Silverstone. That was key for the youngster, to not let himself get into the negative spiral.

“Yes, for sure, that’s [finishing P11] the slightly frustrating part,” said Bearman to media. “The good thing is that since Silverstone, I’ve had a great feeling with the car, particularly in qualifying and that’s given me a lot of confidence for the second half of the season.

“That was a question mark if after Silverstone we could replicate the feeling that we had in Silverstone, in Spa, and that was the case. The car felt just as good so that’s positive and that’s the good thing that we have to bring forward from these races.”

Looking at the overall picture, Bearman admits his mistakes. After the first few rounds, the Brit had pace in select rounds, but couldn’t capitalise on them when teammate Esteban Ocon managed to. But he sees this as a learning, which is key in his first full season in F1.

“No, for sure not, there’s been a lot of mistakes from my side and a lot of things where I’ve thrown away opportunities but on one hand I’m also kind of expecting these things at this stage of my career,” continued Bearman. “There’s been some good showings of speed, qualifying has been going well.

“The races have been a bit more up and down and like I said too many mistakes, but it’s also my 12th or 13th race so I’m also improving and learning and getting better at all of the things as I go. At this stage of my career I expect to make mistakes, I’m not too hard on myself for them, but of course trying to improve on that for the second half of the season and the future as well,” summed up Bearman.
