Representatives of the circuit confirmed that the next Grand Prix of Bahrain will be run under artificial lighting, as the magazine ‘Autosport’ made known in September. So this will be the third race to be held under the moon, along with Singapore and Abu Dhabi.
The circuit of Bahrain celebrate its tenth edition under artificial light and this was confirmed by the head of Sakhir, Al- Khalifa, with the following statements: “We are delighted to be able to prove the first phase of our lighting project in the career of WEC, an incredible milestone in the ambitious project of the Barhain International Circuit, which is expected to be completed in February.”
Al Khalifa also added: “This is, by far, the project ‘s largest development we’ve ever held in the Bahrain International Circuit, since the circuit was built for the first time I think it can not be a better fit for us. To celebrate the tenth anniversary in Formula 1, by demonstrating a long-term commitment to our sport through this important investment.”
It should be added that the Grand Prix organizers have promised to make improvements to the facilities for spectators at the track and light shows to feed the show of the night race. Within the provisional calendar, the 2014 Bahrain GP would be scheduled for the third race of the year on the weekend of the 4th to April 8th. Yet teams are expected to roll in Sakhir next February with the Pre Season Test.
