Max Verstappen made it three in a row by topping FP3 of F1 Bahrain GP from Lewis Hamilton and Pierre Gasly.
It was quite hot during FP3 session of F1 Bahrain GP as Red Bull continued their charge with Verstappen making it three in a row to start the 2021 season, with a storming 1m30.577s lap – which was 0.739s fastest than Mercedes’ Hamilton.
Verstappen left it late for his quick lap, while Hamilton (1m31.316s) did his early on, while AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly (1m31.583s) was third but already outside a second of the Dutchman. The other Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas (1m31.855s) was fourth.
The other Red Bull of Sergio Perez (1m31.908s) was fifth with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz (1m32.108s) in sixth – on the medium tyres – while Alfa Romeo Racing’s Kimi Raikkonen (1m32.224s) did well in seventh from Alpine’s Esteban Ocon (1m32.423s).
The Top 10 then was rounded out by Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll (1m32.431s) and McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo (1m32.77s), with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in 11th – the Monegasque also setting his best time on the medium tyres.
Leclerc had an early spin at Turn 2-3, as he led the other Alfa Romeo of Antonio Giovinazzi and AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda in 13th and 14th, with the two F1 world champions in 15th and 16th, where Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel led Alpine’s Fernando Alonso.
Vettel had some more time in the garage after a piece of his car broke and hit his helmet. After finishing in Top 3 on Friday, McLaren’s Lando Norris was only 16th after he locked-up during his fast lap, with the Haas and Williams pair behind him.
It was George Russell ahead in 17th with Haas’ Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin in 18th and 19th – where the Russian had multiple offs. The Top 20 was covered by Williams’ Nicholas Latifi, who complained of balance struggle since Friday.
