Oscar Piastri stamped authority in FP3 of F1 Bahrain GP ahead of teammate Lando Norris, with only Charles Leclerc managing to sneak in third.
The drivers took their time to start their running in FP3 of F1 Bahrain GP under sunlight. The day did not change the trickiness as wide moments continued throughout the running where several had to save their car to avoid larger crashes in hot conditions.
Mercedes’ George Russell, in fact, had a spin but managed to save his car. The understeer hurt everyone in getting a lap together, but it wasn’t a problem for McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who set the pace in FP3 of F1 Bahrain GP with a 1m31.646s lap from teammate Lando Norris.
The Brit had to go around the second time after issue on his first attempt. The only other driver to make it inside a second of Piastri was Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who finished 0.834s off the Australian. The Monegasque had his left mirror off during one of his runs, but looked much better than teammate.
Russell was fourth despite his moment, as teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli backed the team’s pace to be fifth. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly was best of the rest in sixth from Visa Cash App RB’s Isack Hadjar, who eventually ended up as the lead Red Bull driver after Max Verstappen finished eighth.
The Dutchman did have issues of his own, as Williams’ Carlos Sainz was ninth from Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, who rounded out the Top 10. The Spaniard did not enjoy his lap when his race engineer termed it as a good one. Haas’ Esteban Ocon was 11th in a better showing than Friday.
Alpine’s Jack Doohan went around the second time to finish 12th to drop Visa Cash App RB’s Liam Lawson to 13th ahead of lead Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso. Williams’ Alexander Albon was 15th from Haas’ Oliver Bearman, as Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll improved to 17th.
Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto was 18th from teammate Nico Hulkenberg, who caused a Virtual Safety Car after he hit anti-stall and stopped at the side of the track. Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda ended up 20th after his soft tyre run couldn’t be completed due to wide moments, leaving his best time on hard tyre.
