The world of Formula 1 will witness a historic event with the auction of the 1984 Toleman TG183B, the first Formula 1 car driven by the iconic Ayrton Senna during his career. The vehicle is expected to achieve a price ranging from 2.8 million to 3.8 million euros.

Senna made his debut with this car at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 1984, and earned his first points in the competition with a sixth place in both the South African and Belgian Grands Prix. This vehicle not only represents an important step in his career but is also a symbol of a crucial moment in the history of Formula 1.

According to the auction announcement from <_rm Sotheby's_>, the TG183B has been “wonderfully preserved” and retains many of its authentic features. It is equipped with a period Hart 415T engine combined with a rebuilt gearbox. The design of this chassis is the work of Rory Byrne, one of the most recognized designers in Formula 1.

The vehicle was recently driven by former F1 driver and Sky Sports F1 analyst Martin Brundle in a documentary titled The Story of Toleman, and by Pierre Gasly, driver for Alpine, at Silverstone to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Senna’s debut in F1 and the 30th anniversary of his tragic death.

Gasly described the experience as an incredible thrill: “Driving Senna’s first F1 car exceeded all my expectations. The purity of the driving was incredible, with only three pedals and a simple steering wheel, very different from what I’m used to in a modern F1 car.” This opportunity has left a mark on Gasly and on former W Series driver, Naomi Schiff, who also shared her excitement on social media.
