Lucas Auer took his second pole position of the season after an intense first qualifying session that decided the starting grid for today’s race 1. The Austrian will start in front of championship leader, Marco Wittmann and Tom Blomqvist.
The Mercedes were the favorites to take the pole position today, especially Vietoris and Wickens but it was the young Lucas Auer that put his car on first position.
The Austrian set alone a lap time one tenth quicker than the BMW of Wittmann and Blomqvist.
Jaime Green who was leading in the majority of the session finished fourth ahead of Mortara and Juncadella.
In his second weekend in DTM replacing, Esteban Ocon, Felix Rosenqvist finished seventh ahead of Timo Glock, Bruno Spengler and Paul di Resta.
A poor final result for Wickens who will start from 13th, mandatory have to comeback in order to not let Marco Wittmann take a big advantage in the championship.
