Austrian marked today the pole for the first race at Hockenheim after discrete results at Silverstone. Auer has managed to make the most of the Mercedes engine and has located his car in first place, relegating to second place Giovinazzi and Edward Jones to third, fourth place will Verstappen , second in the third race at Silverstone , behind him the leader of the world championship, Esteban Ocon, who starts ahead of his main pursuers, Fuoco, who set a time that has not even gotten into the top10 and Blomqvist, which goes just behind the Frenchman.

The session started with a few riders on the track , but then started to leave the title contenders and the session increased the pace. During the first half of the session, the first position lasted very little to anyone who scored the fastest time, the pilot coming up behind took it off.
From mid-session, the times were increasingly difficult to beat, Ocon has set the fastest time when there were 5 minutes, but a lap later , Giovinazzi stole his provisional pole and when it appeared assured, Auer has marked the pole, just before the end of the session.
In the fight of Mercedes against Volkswagen, Mercedes has won , because, although Volkswagen has managed to cram the same number than Mercedes of cars in the top10 (5) the star brand has achieved the pole.
