Aston Martin has come under criticism from former F1 presenter Will Buxton, who has pointed out that the constant changes in the team are harming its culture and long-term direction. The comment comes at a time of difficulties for the team during the 2026 season.

Since Andy Cowell joined as CEO of the group in 2024, the franchise has undergone significant changes. Cowell replaced Mike Krack as team principal in January 2025, but his management lasted less than a year. Adrian Newey, who joined as technical partner in 2025, has now taken on the role of team principal alongside his original responsibilities for 2026.

Despite the changes, following a turbulent start to the season, rumors have emerged about a possible hiring of a new team principal by Lawrence Stroll, which would allow Newey to focus on other technical responsibilities. So far, Aston Martin has denied these speculations.

In his comment on the podcast _Up To Speed_, Buxton compared it to a football club that constantly changes managers, indicating that this instability does not benefit the formation of a cohesive and focused team.

“You can’t expect everything to change overnight in Formula 1. Turns take time, and without clear direction, it’s hard to achieve significant results,” Buxton added, emphasizing the importance of consistency within the team for long-term success.
