Aston Martin and Lance Stroll have decided together to not compete in F1 Singapore GP after the high-speed crash of the Canadian.
Following his high-speed crash in Q1 of F1 Singapore GP qualifying at Marina Bay Circuit in the final corner, Aston Martin together with Stroll have elected not to run the Canadian in the Sunday’s race and prepare themselves for next weekend’s Japanese GP.
It was a high impact crash which broke the right side of the car along with the rear wing and forced Stroll to visit the medical center. Although there is no major injury, his body is still sore and with the massive repair work at hand, Aston Martin decided otherwise.
“Following Lance’s crash in qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix, Lance and the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team have jointly agreed that he will not participate in this evening’s race,” read a statement from the team. “The team face a huge job repairing the car today and Lance is still sore following such a high impact. Lance’s focus now shifts to fully recovering ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.”
Adding further, team boss Mike Krack noted: “The whole team are relieved that Lance was able to step out of the car after yesterday’s accident – however, he is still feeling the after-effects of such a high-impact crash. Our priority now is that he makes a full and speedy recovery. Together, we have decided that he will sit out this evening’s race and instead focus fully on returning to the cockpit for next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.”
Stroll was pushing to get a lap in to get himself out of Q1 where he noted about having to get through the weighbridge before his run. Even on the lap, he had some cars to get through to have enough time on hand to set a lap time.
