Aston Martin closes the battery issue with Honda: ‘What is the point of continuing to ask?’

Aston Martin has recently addressed the controversy surrounding the batteries during a press session in Shanghai. The team’s director, Mike Krack, responded with sarcasm to questions about the batteries, highlighting his frustration at the journalists’ insistence. His statement, ‘why can’t there be good news?’, set the tone for the meeting.

This situation comes after a disappointing weekend at the Australian Grand Prix, where Fernando Alonso retired from the race and Lance Stroll finished with a large time gap. The team’s problems have been attributed to debilitating vibrations from the new engine, which have caused damage to all the batteries during testing.

In the context of the Shanghai race, Krack and Shintaro Orihara, Honda’s track manager, reiterated their efforts to improve the situation. Orihara commented that they have made some improvements to the vibration problem and are working on additional measures to resolve potential reliability issues.

Regarding the status of the available batteries, the two team representatives were evasive. Orihara stated that they are trying to repair the damaged batteries, but did not provide specific details on how many they had available for the next race.

Krack insisted that despite the difficulties, the goal for Shanghai is to finish the race, emphasizing that every lap counts. His strategy is based on learning from previous experiences and trying to improve performance at every opportunity that arises.

With a challenging landscape ahead, Aston Martin seeks to recover and overcome the challenges that have marked the start of their season.
