Aprilia has revealed first images of its brand new 2020 MotoGP bike with a special test livery having names of the people working for the team.
The new RS-GP makes its first official track run on February 7-9, where Aleix Espargaro, Bradley Smith and Lorenzo Savadori will be in action at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. It is the first 2020 MotoGP pre-season test before Qatar.
The Italian manufacturer shared images of the 2020 bike which features radically redesigned front fairing along with a new chassis and exhaust system. There are more changes which will only come to light when the bike hits the track.
The special all-black test livery has names of all the people working at their Noale base. Ahead of the RS-GP 2020 debut, there is another shakedown set to take place at Sepang on February 2-4, where the 2019 Aprilia will be put in use.
The bike will be ridden by WorldSBK and MotoE rider Savadori. The Italian outfit is contemplating its 2020 MotoGP line-up due to the ban on Andrea Iannone in doping case. The rider has challenged the decision but the hearing is still pending.
It is not clear if Iannone will be allowed to compete as if he loses the appeal, it is game over for the Italian MotoGP rider. Aprilia has had a difficult return to the premier class, where it runs in tandem with Gresini Racing in the independent class.
Since its return in 2015, Aprilia secured its best result of seventh in the teams’ standings in 2016. The 2019 MotoGP was termed as one of the worst for the Italian outfit in terms of performance and the team promised for a better 2020 with big changes.
