Andrea Lafarja and Germán Maune finished third in the WRC Masters Cup at the 2026 Rally Islas Canarias

Andrea Lafarja and Germán Maune successfully completed the 2026 Rally Islas Canarias, marking their first experience on asphalt.

The main objective for the Paraguayan duo was to gain mileage and build experience on a surface that was entirely new to them, a goal they achieved throughout the event.

Stage by stage, Andrea Lafarja made steady progress and found an improving rhythm. During the second loop, together with Germán Maune, they refined their pace notes to increase speed, allowing Andrea to feel increasingly comfortable on asphalt.

Their learning process continued in changing conditions, as the arrival of rain led them to tackle two stages on wet roads, adding further valuable experience.

A setback in the final stage on Saturday, after hitting a wheel rim, forced them to stop and rejoin the rally on Sunday in order to complete the event.

In the end, Andrea Lafarja and Germán Maune finished the Rally Islas Canarias in third position in the WRC Masters Cup, bringing to a close a weekend defined by progress and valuable learning.

Andrea Lafarja (DRIVER): “First time on asphalt, first time in the Canary Islands, and our second consecutive podium finish in the world championship. We are happy and proud of this third place in the WRC Masters Cup. Thanks to Germán, the team, and all the people of the Canary Islands for the warmth and support they’ve shown us this week”.

Germán Maune (CODRIVER): “It has been a very positive experience in our first asphalt rally in the Canary Islands. We improved stage by stage, adapting to a new surface and working hard on the pace notes to find more speed. Despite the setback on Saturday, we were able to rejoin and finish the rally, which gave us a very valuable weekend in terms of learning”.

Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “The work of Andrea and Germán has been very positive. The main objective was to gain experience on asphalt and they have shown great adaptability throughout the rally”.
