Pramac Ducati’s Andrea Iannone set the fastest lap in the last practice session before the Qatar Grand Prix race.
The most part of the riders ran with the tyre compounds they will use in the race, so the laptimes were slow compared to the qualifying ones. Andrea Iannone took the lead of the sheets during the first minutes of the session, followed by Valentino Rossi and Bradley Smith. Minutes later, Jorge Lorenzo made it to second place –which shows that Yamaha could have solved their issues– meanwhile Alvaro Bautista set the third fastest time.
Aleix Espargaro didn’t take so much time to set fast times and was third with 11 minutes left on the clock, just when Danilo Petrucci had a crash. The poleman, Marc Marquez, waited until mid-session to join the track and set the sixth best lap when the older Espargaro went up to second place. Cal Crutchlow crashed when the chequered flag was waving.
In the end, Iannone finished the warm up session with the best time -1:55.657-, followed by Aleix Espargaro -55 thousandths slower than the Italian rider-, Jorge Lorenzo, Alvaro Bautista and Valentino Rossi. Marc Marquez was sixth.
