Alpine has clarified some details about Otro Capital stake sale after comments from Flavio Briatore during the F1 2026 launch.
During the launch of F1 2026 car and livery aboard MSC Europa couple of days back, Briatore affirmed about stake sale of Alpine, which has few buyers interested which includes group led by Christian Horner. The Italian highlighted that the Brit is not in direct talks with Renault Group.
Instead, Horner and his team along with other interested parties are speaking with Otro Capital, who owns 24% of stake and are willing to sell. The consortium has held discussions with parties and it has been on since the initial report of sale back in October of 2025.
Alpine has since clarified in pointers about the interest, where some may have linked Horner in direct talks with Renault, which is not the case. Briatore was clear in his statements during the launch, where he noted that Brit is talking with Otro Capital and there is no involvement of the Italian or Renault in it.
For now, Renault is looking at things from the outside and will be involved once Otro Capital has made decision to offload its stake to the concerned party. At the current juncture, Alpine is focused on the start of the 2026 F1 season, with the first assignment being the Barcelona shakedown.
Here’s the pointers from Alpine:
– It is no secret that Otro Capital has held preliminary talks to sell its stake in the team, as has previously been reported in October last year.
– With the continued rapid growth of Formula One, the valuation of the teams has been increasing and, not surprisingly, has led to multiple interested parties looking to enter the sport.
– The team is regularly approached and contacted from potential investors, particularly given Otro Capital declared exploratory talks have taken place.
– One of those parties to express an interest is a group of investors, which also includes Christian Horner.
– Any approaches or discussions are with the existing shareholders, Otro Capital (24%) and Renault Group (76%), not directly with Flavio Briatore or the team.
– Currently, the primary focus for the team is to be more competitive on track in 2026 which, with the new regulation era, presents a unique opportunity to show a sustainable recovery of performance.
