Fernando Alonso felt good after recovery in F1 Singapore GP, but it was not without radio rage on Isack Hadjar and Lewis Hamilton.

Aston Martin’s Alonso made a good start in F1 Singapore GP to hold onto eighth despite the push from Hadjar. The Frenchman had to counter Oliver Bearman, which allowed the Spaniard to take away the place. He seemingly lost to during the pit stop due to a slow stop at his disposal.

He dropped back behind Hadjar and Bearman. He had to pass an ailing Hadjar, who put up a valiant effort. And he eventually cleared Bearman unseen on the world feed. He got eighth place back and almost had seventh on track when Hamilton lost his brakes on the final couple lap.

He finished four tenth behind but was livid on the radio, complaining about Hamilton cutting the corners and driving an unsafe car with no brakes. “Oh, fu**ing hell, man. I cannot believe it. Yeah, he knew it. I cannot fu**ing believe it, I cannot fu**ing believe it. I mean, I cannot fu**ing believe it. I cannot fu**ing believe it. Is it safe to drive with no brakes? Oh, he should..,” he said at the flag, as his race engineer lamented the situation.

He noted about potential penalty due to track limits. “Yeah, but this should be fu**ing P7. I mean, you cannot drive. Like if you are alone on track. Yeah, I mean, no respect the red flag yesterday, today, free track for them. I mean, maybe too much,” continued Alonso.

Hamilton was handed a 5s time penalty which dropped him behind Alonso in eighth, with the Spaniard taking seventh. “Yes, they told me about it two laps from the end, and I finished about a tenth behind him, so it was a bit frustrating, but at the same time I think it’s being investigated now for track limits and everything,” said the Aston Martin driver to TV media.

“Because when you don’t have brakes, you can’t really go off the track, because we all have to stay on the track, with or without brakes, and although he always has a bit of tolerance, hopefully today it will be a little less,” summed up Alonso, as he reflected on the grand prix, ending up best of the rest. The team opted to start on the soft compound and switch to medium, which worked nicely.

“Yeah, it was a good race, the car was performing well in the race, we had good race pace,” said Alonso to media. “The soft was performing better than expected and lasted longer with good pace. That gap that we opened in the first stint, obviously vanished in the pit stop and we had to recover in the second part.

“Yeah, the car is still very fast, I think the team did a good call going to the mediums at the pit stop, all our competitors were on the hard, so I could make some moves in the second part of the race, thanks to the more grippy tyres,” summed up Alonso, who had some words on Hadjar too. He made a sarcastic comment of calling him a ‘hero’ on the Frenchman’s hard defence.

He felt Hadjar should know which battles to choose. “He had a little bit of an engine problem from what I understood,” continued Alonso. “On the straights, he was slow. Sometimes some battles you need to know when it is better to fight, and when it is not. Probably the final result of the race could be worse for both for sure, but for him in particular.

“So, I think it was some unnecessary risks but I understand this is Singapore and you need to fight hard. He did his best but yeah, we lost time for sure. Some movements at 300 kp/h is little bit above the line in Singapore, but everyone races how they want. And there were no contact, nothing like that, everything is fine. They have a very fast car, they don’t have not many points, so it is their problem,” summed up Alonso.
