Alguersuari clarifies comments as he is thankful to Red Bull and Marko

Jamie Alguersuari, F1

Jaime Alguersuari has clarified about the comments he made regarding his Red Bull F1 junior journey and time spent with Dr. Helmut Marko.

Former F1 driver and now a musician/DJ, Alguersuari, made headlines recently after his interview with a Spanish portal about his journey with Red Bull junior team and the time he spent with Marko during the period of 2009 and 2011.

Alguersuari raced for Toro Rosso then and couldn’t graduate to the senior Red Bull F1 seat as he was beaten by the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyat, Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen. The Spaniard eventually left F1 and also racing after 2015.

He took up the music line and only returned to compete in karting this year. In the interview, Alguersuari noted how difficult his time was with Red Bull under pressure and the conversations with Marko, but since then has clarified his comments on social media.

While he accepts the demand was and is higher when associated with Red Bull, he has utmost respect and that he is thankful to them and Marko in helping him achieve his dreams of racing in F1, even though it was short-lived.

“I want to clarify something regarding Helmut Marko,” said Alguersuari. “I am deeply thankful to have met him when I was 15, Helmut was my teacher and someone who always asked me to deliver to push and boost myself forward and beyond. This is the Junior team system and it works.

“I have not enough words of gratitude to RB and Helmut Marko because they have showed me a way of discipline, of dedication and hard f****ng work that is helping me out reach other goals in my life, in my music and Im 100% sure I wouldnt be who I am today without being inside RB.

“When competing at the highest level wether is F1, football, rugby or golf in order to highlight it requires an extremely demanding mind to look for more performance. Even if you win RB will keep demanding you higher and higher and higher,” summed up Alguersuari.
