Alfa Romeo to sport special edition Quadrifoglio logo in F1 Canadian GP, as auction for Emila Romagna raises well.
Alfa Romeo –
In celebration of Alfa Romeo starting its racing life 100 years ago in 1923 during the Targa Floria, when Ugo Sivocci first competed and win in his RL Corsa using the famous ‘Quadrifoglio’, the F1 team will sport a special edition of the logo.
They will carry the Quadrifoglio logo framed in a gold triangle on its engine cover in this weekend’s Canadian GP which is a small gesture and respect towards its history and heritage. The F1 team hopes to score again after doing so in Barcelona.
F1 auction for Emilia Romagna –
The F1 trophies which couldn’t be handed out due to the cancellation of Emilia Romagna GP were signed by 20 drivers and 10 team principals during Spanish GP and put up for auction to raise for the region’s Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection.
The special trophy carried not just the signs of the current F1 drivers but also names were engraved of the past winners of the races at Imola which includes the likes of Nelson Piquet, Didier Pironi, Patrick Tambay, Alain Prost, Elio de Angelis, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell and Michael Schumacher.
A total of £247,171 has been raised thus far with signed posters from Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu still available to bid and add to the amount. The highest among the items was the constructors’ trophy which collected £71,275.
The drivers’ trophies went for £60,100, £37,325 and £32,050, while the Pirelli Pole Position award went for £40,745 and the podium’s Ferrari Trento bottle raised £11,175. All of the proceeds will go in for the betterment of Emilia Romagna after devastation from flood.
“Once again the F1 community has shown great generosity, collecting through this auction a sum to be donated to those who are still suffering from the damage caused by the bad weather in Emilia-Romagna, which has been very serious. and whose consequences will weigh heavily on the population for a long time,” said Pirelli’s Mario Isola. Any help, even a small one, can help and we are happy to have made our contribution.”
