Alex Palou wins in Nashville surpassing three Penske drivers

Alex Palou, the reigning IndyCar champion, once again demonstrated his quality by conquering the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at the Nashville Speedway. With this victory, Palou adds his fifth win of the 2026 season.

Starting from fourth position with his Honda from Chip Ganassi Racing, the Spaniard took the lead shortly after the midway point of the race. He crossed the finish line with a margin of 0.8731 seconds over Josef Newgarden from Team Penske.

The Team Penske driver, David Malukas, had a spectacular race, finishing third after starting from the 25th position. This result was complemented by his teammate Scott McLaughlin, who secured fourth place, completing an impressive 2-3-4 for the team. Felix Rosenqvist from Meyer Shank Racing finished fifth.

With this victory, Palou extends his lead in the championship, leading by 83 points over Malukas, who has reclaimed second place with 457 points. Kyle Kirkwood from Andretti Global has fallen to third place, 87 points behind Palou.

The race began with a warning, as the initial group was not as concentrated as expected. However, Kirkwood managed to lead the group on the second lap. As the race progressed, Newgarden briefly fell back but quickly returned to compete with Palou and Kirkwood.

The first race closure came on lap 19, when Caio Collet from AJ Foyt Racing had an accident. Most drivers, including Malukas, opted not to pit, taking advantage of this situation to gain positions.

The events of the race unfolded intensely, and with several lead changes, Palou remained consistent and determined in the last laps, maintaining his advantage until the end.

The next IndyCar event will be another intense test for the drivers on their path to the title.
