Alex Márquez breaks Aprilia’s winning streak at the MotoGP Spanish GP

In the recently held MotoGP Spanish GP, Alex Márquez achieved an impressive victory with Gresini Racing, ending Aprilia’s winning streak and securing Ducati’s first victory of the season.

After a few complicated races in previous events, the young rider demonstrated his skill at the Jerez circuit, winning from the fifth position on the grid. This victory comes exactly one year after his first triumph in MotoGP, also at Jerez, and six months after Ducati’s last win at the Malaysian GP.

The Aprilia rider, Marco Bezzecchi, finished second after winning the last five races, while Fabio di Giannantonio completed the podium for VR46.

The race started with Marc Márquez starting first from pole but was soon surpassed by Alex and Bezzecchi. At the beginning of the second lap, Alex Márquez made a decisive pass at turn 6, taking the lead of the race.

Marc Márquez, who seemed to have a good return, fell at turn 11, ending his race and leaving Bezzecchi as Alex’s main rival. With the leader accelerating his pace, midway through the race, Márquez had a two-second lead over Bezzecchi.

Ultimately, Alex Márquez crossed the finish line with a margin of 1.903 seconds over Bezzecchi, thus achieving his fourth victory in the premier class. Although Bezzecchi could not extend his winning streak, he maintained the lead in the overall championship standings.

Di Giannantonio, for his part, achieved a commendable third place, while Jorge Martín finished fourth. Other notable riders such as Ai Ogura and Raúl Fernández had an impressive race, recovering from lower positions to finish fifth and sixth, respectively.

Thus, the Spanish GP left a bittersweet taste for the Ducati team, who experienced the disappointment of Marc Márquez’s fall and the retirement of Francesco Bagnaia due to a mechanical issue, a tough day for the Italian manufacturer.
