Alex Albon highlights Williams’ progress in F1 but warns of potential disadvantages

Alex Albon has confirmed that Williams’ car has managed to reduce weight during the five-week break before the Miami Grand Prix. The team, based in Grove, has been working to address the issues of a car that appeared excessively heavy in the first three races of the season.

In a very recent podcast, Albon expressed his excitement about the progress made, stating that “our car has gone to a training camp during these four or five weeks. It has lost a bit of weight.” However, the 30-year-old driver remains cautious, as other teams will also introduce significant improvements simultaneously.

The British driver pointed out that, although the updates should make their car more competitive, the real question is how long it will take other teams to present their improvements. “The real unknown is to what extent we will do it. It’s a subjective process in Formula 1; everyone is working to improve,” he said.

Albon expressed his concern about Williams’ performance compared to the leading teams. “I’m still worried because the top teams usually do well with regulatory changes. They always make the most of the break days, so we will be waiting to see how we position ourselves after the updates from the other teams.”

The Miami Grand Prix will be held from May 1 to 3 at the Hard Rock Stadium, where fans will be able to enjoy the second sprint race of the season.
