Lorandi will continue in the European championship of Formula 3 with British team Carlin for the 2016 campaign.
The 17 year old Italian driver went straight from go-karting to European Formula 3 last year in Dutch squad Van Amersfoort Racing alongside Charles Leclerc and Arjun Maini.
For his first season in single-seaters, Lorandi finished twentieth in the main championship with a highlight at Pau scoring a 6th place, his best result in the category. He also always finished in the top 10 of the three prestigious races of Formula 3: Seventh in the Pau Grand Prix and in the Macau Grand Prix, and ninth in the Masters of Formula 3 in Zandvoort.
He comments:
“I am delighted to join forces with Carlin, a team that accomplished so much in Formula 3 and is also lining-up in other top-tier categories. The chemistry with the staff has been excellent since the very first test and the work we did together proved extremely valuable.”
Team director, Trevor Carlin, shows his enthusiasm:
“We’re absolutely delighted that Alessio is joining the team. In the small amount of testing we have completed with him, he’s shown himself to be a very talented and intelligent driver.
“I have no doubt he will be a great asset to the team and we believe we have a great package to allow Alessio to reach his potential.”
Joining Carlin, Lorandi will be paired with Ryan Tveter who will spend his second year in the British team.
