Guiliano Alesi has secured his third victory of the season in the GP3 Series at the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. The Frenchman has dominated the race and managed to stay in front of Russell’s comeback – second, Tveter completes the podium.
Julien Falchero (Campos Racing) was starting from pole position but would lose this position with Guiliano Alesi (Trident) who would not leave the lead of the race until the checkered flag to get his third victory of the season.
Jack Aitken (ART Grand Prix) had a good chance to cut points to George Russell (ART Grand Prix) but a contact with Dorian Boccolacci (Trident) sent the Englishman to the end of the standings.
Meanwhile Russell, along with Nirei Fukuzumi (ART Grand Prix) would start a great comeback overtaking Kevin Jörg (Trident), Niko Kari (Arden International), Arjun Maini (Jenzer Motorsport) and Falchero.
Rusell also overtook Tveter for the second position on the podium.
In the championship Russell already has 36 points of advantage over Aitken, the distance with Fukuzumi increases to 42 points, while Alesi manages to be placed among the ART GP, rising to the fourth position 50 points behind of the Mercedes junior driver.
