Alexander Albon was disappointed qualifying so low in F1 Miami GP after good practice, but was happy to end up in points eventually.

For Albon and Williams, it was another points finish in Miami. He ended up 10th initially which subsequently became ninth after penalty to Fernando Alonso. It was another good weekend for the Thai racer as the team shows some level of consistency of being there.

For Albon, the last three races has seen him finish 10th, 11th and ninth. “To be honest, we have had the pace all weekend, FP1, FP2, FP3, we were always in the Top 10,” he said. “Qualifying was the anomaly and we were really frustrated to be P18. The race happened and we were there”.

“Our pace was actually good, we were catching the cars in front of us, we benefitted from the collisions in front but to be honest with you we were right there behind the collisions, we were catching the cars in front so very happy,” summed up Albon.

It was a good result from what was an exhausting race judging by some drivers expressions afterwards. The heat and humidity being a mitigating factor and the Williams man concurs in an amusing manner. “Like my balaclava is soaking red from all my hair dye,” said Albon. “It looks like I have been beheaded. It was really physical”.

“I would say it was on a par with Singapore and it was strange like I think it was relentless. By the end of the race you are pushing flat out and you manage the tyres, it’s all easy and as soon as you have to start pushing is when it gets tricky and you are pushing for a long time,” summed up Albon.
