ART Grand Prix is pleased to confirm that Jack Aitken has joined their GP3 Series driver line up for the upcoming 2017 Championship season. Jack will race for a second consecutive season in the GP3 Series where he made his brilliant debut in 2016, securing one win, seven podiums and finishing 5th in the championship.

Last November, Jack took the wheel of an ART Grand Prix GP3 single-seater in Abu Dhabi and the 21 year old racer from London found himself instantly at home with the team.

The British-Korean driver started in karting at the age of 7 and has proved his potential in junior single-seater racing, such as Formula Renault 2.0 where he clinched two titles in 2015 before moving to the GP3 last year. In addition to this Jack was chosen to join the Renault Sport Academy in 2016 and he will continue with the Academy in 2017.

Jack Aitken:

Not much needs to be said about ART Grand Prix and their time in GP3, the results are there for everyone to see! Moving up from FR2.0 was a good step last year, but now we have to look at winning and nothing less. I’m also looking forward to learning as much as possible in a team that has produced many F1 drivers over the years, and continuing my effort to reach the highest level in motorsport. The season can’t start soon enough!”

Sébastien Philippe:

Jack has experience of the circuits, the GP3 car and of the management of such a competitive championship. All these assets will be invaluable for his second year in the series, where his objective will be to follow in Charles Leclerc steps and put his name in the hall of fame in the GP3 Series. In 2016, after a difficult start, he was one of our most fearsome rivals with 7 podiums from the last 9 races. He confirmed his great potential during the tests in Abu Dhabi and his integration into ART Grand Prix was the next logical step in this sequence of very promising events.”
