Ai Ogura will return to MotoGP competition in Austria after an injury

Ai Ogura, the Japanese rider, returns to MotoGP competition this weekend at the Austrian Grand Prix, after being sidelined from the tracks due to an injury. However, the racer assures that he could have returned earlier if he had ignored the medical advice he received in his country.

Ogura suffered a fracture in his thumb in a training accident after the British Grand Prix, thus missing the races in Aragón and San Marino. Now, he assures that he is ready to reintegrate into the competition after an intensive rehabilitation period in Barcelona.

Although MotoGP doctors have given the pilot the green light to compete, Ogura acknowledges that regaining his competitive level may be a challenge, as his absence has left him 71 points behind the championship leader, Jorge Martin. He now holds the sixth position in the points standings.

After a difficult weekend at Silverstone, where he suffered a fall, Ogura will feel a bit nervous but confident in facing the pain he is expected to endure. He explains that his physical condition allows him to compete without the risk of further injury as long as he does not fall to the ground.

Additionally, Ogura shared that an inappropriate decision by a doctor in Japan delayed his surgery, which cost him the opportunity to race in Misano. ‘Sometimes, I need to listen less to doctors and more to my intuition,’ he commented, without resentment towards health professionals.

His team, Trackhouse, eagerly anticipates his return after two disappointing races without his presence. In Aragón, Lorenzo Savadori filled in for him while teammate Raul Fernandez could not replicate the success of Silverstone, where he had won.
