The Japanese rider Ai Ogura, from the Trackhouse Aprilia team, expressed his disappointment after finishing in fifth place at the Thai Grand Prix, highlighting that he could not demonstrate his full potential.
In a race marked by a complicated start, Ogura lost positions at the beginning, dropping to 11th place after starting in eighth position. Only from lap 16 did he begin to move forward, showing a more competitive pace.
Ogura stated that Buriram is a circuit where he usually performs better and that he had enough speed to qualify higher. He had already achieved a fourth place in the sprint race the previous day, which raised his expectations.
The Saitama rider admitted he made strategic errors during the first part of the race. “I had some issues that affected me at the start. I was surprisingly bad at the beginning. I knew I would be fast at the end of the race, but I couldn’t take advantage of it,” he said.
This result coincides with his first performance at the Thai GP last year, where he also finished fifth. However, for him the feeling is very different: “The position is the same, but the feeling is completely different. Zero happiness,” he added.
With a season that had started well and a subsequent drop, Ogura hopes that his experience with the Aprilia team will be beneficial in regaining his rhythm and showing better results in the upcoming races.
