Lando Norris was back on top in FP2 of F1 Abu Dhabi GP in a McLaren 1-2 with Oscar Piastri in second from Nico Hulkenberg.

It was another clean session in FP2 of F1 Abu Dhabi GP at Yas Marina Circuit under the floodlights. But it wasn’t as good for Williams. An off moment for Franco Colapinto caused floor damage and ended his session early, even before he could set a qualifying lap on the soft tyre.

The team tried to fix it but wasn’t able to, as teammate Alexander Albon had a scare too towards the end of the session. They managed to send him back on track in the dying stages of the session which was headed by Lando Norris (1m23.517s) who led a McLaren 1-2 in FP2 of F1 Abu Dhabi GP.

He headed Oscar Piastri, with Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg slotting in a solid third after his good lap. He dropped Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who will have to do extra work considering the penalty to Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque had to do an extra run to be sixth after his early attempt was ruined.

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was fifth, with Kick Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas in seventh from Haas’ Kevin Magnussen, Williams’ Albon and Visa Cash App RB’s Yuki Tsunoda in the Top 10. The Japanese driver had teammate Liam Lawson just behind in 11th from Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.

Mercedes’ George Russell did not have a great session to be only 13th from Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, whose teammate Max Verstappen was only 17th. Both the Red Bull drivers did not have clean laps on the soft compound, but even complained about not getting the balance right.

Kick Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu slotted in 15th from Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, who had a tough run as well, as Verstappen, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, Alpine’s Jack Doohan and Williams’ Stroll rounded out the 20 runners to end last Friday running of 2024 F1 season.
