The 2017 schedule for Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires has been released. The schedule features 16 races at 10 venues, all supporting the Verizon IndyCar Series.
The 2017 season will kick off on March 11 and 12 with a doubleheader at St. Petersburg alongside the Verizon IndyCar Series season opener. The series will not return to Phoenix International Raceway in 2017, yet it has a new oval as it goes alongside the Verizon IndyCar Series to Gateway Motorsports Park for the first time since 2003.
Unlike in the previous two seasons, there will be no longer a separate Mazda Road to Indy finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Instead the 2017 Indy Lights season will conclude at the penultimate Verizon IndyCar Series round at Watkins Glen International with a single race on September 3.
All road and street course rounds except for Watkins Glen will be doubleheaders. All oval rounds will be single races.
