Ed Carpenter has had no rival in the Texas Motor Speedway in the IndyCar race. The American has won a race which has fought one on one with Will Power from Penske whose partner, Juan Pablo Montoya, has achieved the last step of the podium.

Will Power retained the first position at the start of race when Marco Andretti (Andretti Autosport) was the first to retire due to a mechanical problem. This left the top positions for Power, Kanaan, Newgarden, Carpenter and Dixon.
With lap 40 pit stops began with Kanaan and Newgarden as the first pit stops, leaving out the top 5 as follows: Power, Kanaan, Pagenaud, Carpenter and Dixon.
The second pit stops this time were benefiting the brave who stopped before, like Ed Carpenter and Scott Dixon, who along with Simon Pagenaud led up to the first 3 positions leaving in fourth and fifth place these drivers: Will Power and Tony Kanaan, who because of stopping late, had lost time.
But in mid-race, the second pace car appeared in an accident between Sebastien Bourdais and Justin Wilson. With this situation, the first nine drivers took advantage for the third stop of the day. One of the most impressive pit stops was the one performed by Kanaan (Target Chip Ganassi Racing) changing his steering wheel when changing tyres, which condemned him down to ninth.
Meanwhile, Power got the lead again, followed by Carpenter, Montoya, Dixon and Newgarden in the top5.
With the green flag, Ryan Hunter-Reay, who won the Indianapolis 500, suffered engine problems in the pits, leaving the race finally.
Dixon (Target Chip Ganassi) was the first to pit around lap 169 for the fourth stop in boxes. Then the other competitors would do the same thing.
This stop made us see that Power and Carpenter would fight for the win, they had gone far away from Simon Pagenaud, third place, Kanaan and Dixon.
About 41 laps to go and tyre changes and introduction of fuel began. A few pit stops where Power exceeded the speed in the pit lane and was forced to complete a Drive Through, losing the chance of winning the race, going down to sixth place. With this issue Ed Carpenter (Ed Carpenter Racing) was leading the race at 20 laps to the end with a good margin of 10 seconds.
Carpenter distance was increasing with each passing lap. Up to 16 seconds of distance with Montoya and Kanaan who completed the podium but a caution with 7 laps to go left the race open again. Takuma Sato retired (AJ Foty), hehad stopped his car in the middle of the track due to a break in his Honda engine.
Finally, Ed Carpenter got the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway circuit. Power finally came second in extremis overtaking in the last moments Juan Pablo Montoya, who returns to Indycar podium, after a long time.
