MotoGP declared both Andrea Dovizioso and Fabio Quartararo as unfit with concussion after their crash in British MotoGP race.
A hot moment from Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Quartararo at the start of the British MotoGP race at Silverstone created mayhem as he took Ducati’s Dovizioso along with him at Turn 1, with both retiring immediately.
Dovizioso’s bike caught fire as the Italian had to be stretched to the side. He did manage to get back up and walk away but Ducati revealed that he had short term memory loss as he was sent to the medical center.
From there, the Italian was taken to Coventry hospital. Quartararo, meanwhile, limped out and was seen in good spirits after the grand prix. But he was taken to the medical center as well and then to the hospital.
He reported of dizziness. What was termed as a precautionary check turned into a concussion for the Frenchman, which the Italian has been diagnosed with as well. In fact, both have been declared unfit by MotoGP.
While Dovizioso did not speak with the media but Ducati stated that he lost his memory for about 15 minutes. At the same time, Quartararo stated that he was avoiding Alex Rins, which led to going hot with the throttle.
Prior to hospital visit, Ducati stated: “After the big crash on lap 1 Andrea Dovizioso has nothing broken but has been transferred to Coventry Hospital for further checks due to a severe blow to the head that caused a momentary loss of memory.”
The team later added: “The result of the scan made to Andrea Dovizioso at the Coventry Hospital doesn’t show any damage and the rider will come back home tonight.”
At the same time, Petronas Yamaha SRT stated: “Following his heavy crash earlier today and after complaining of dizziness, Fabio has been taken to Coventry hospital for further assessment.”
