Miguel Molina took his third win in DTM, his second this season during Race 1 at Hockenheim final round. The Catalan made a good start and build a gap to beat the title contenders, Marco Wittmann and Edoardo Mortara who completes the podium.

Despite pole position from Antonio Felix da Costa, the Portuguese driver lost the lead at turn 1 with Catalan and front row starter, Miquel Molina. Tom Blomqvist and Mike Rockenfeller followed the Da Costa on third and fourth.

Immediately, the championship leader, Marco Wittmann overtook both to take third position while his opponent in the driver’s championship, Edoardo Mortara was overtaken by Timo Glock for seventh.

But the Italian driver wait for the opportunity, letting Glock waste his DRS time to do his attack. After ten laps, the title contender did the pass on the German for seventh position.

Meanwhile, Da Costa let overtake Wittmann for second position while Mercedes drivers continued struggling with rookie Felix Rosenqvist entering the pits for a post retirement.

The show then was on Mortara who then overtook, Farfus, Rockenfeller, Blomqvist and Da Costa for a final third position, just behind the winner Miguel Molina and Marco Wittmann who now is leading by 17 points ahead of Mortara.

Team work affected to Antonio Felix da Costa who finished out of the podium in fourth position. Mike Rockenfeller on his new role at Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, finished fifth after overtake Blomqvist who finished on a poor ninth position.

The surprise of the day was Rene Rast who led Phoenix car to sixth position, after a great comeback from ninth position.

Completes the point’s position, Timo Glock, Jamie Green, Blomqvist and Paul di Resta.
