Di Giannantonio rejects the theory of Aprilia or Ducati tracks: «Marc Márquez is silencing everyone»

In the current MotoGP championship, VR46 rider, Fabio Di Giannantonio, has expressed his opinion on the competition between the two leading Italian brands: Ducati and Aprilia. According to him, it’s the riders who truly make the difference, rather than the characteristics of the circuits.

The battle for the championship title has been marred by a constant fluctuation in performance between the two brands. The Aprilia RS-GP shows superior performance on tracks with fast corners, while the Ducati GP26 is better suited for intense braking layouts. This has led to a perception that races might be predetermined based on whether they favor one brand or the other.

However, Di Giannantonio contradicts this idea. «Searching for circuits that benefit Ducati or Aprilia is, in my opinion, a topic that interests you journalists more. There are incredible riders in both brands, and the one who does the best job is the one who wins. Márquez is silencing all doubts, and the key lies in how you work with the bike,» the Italian rider stated.

Di Giannantonio has been one of the most consistent Ducati riders during the first half of the season, hoping to fight for the title. However, since his victory at the Catalonia Grand Prix, he hasn’t been able to reach the podium, and now he finds himself 51 points behind the championship co-leaders, Márquez and Jorge Martín.

Additionally, in Misano, after qualifying fourth, a bad start caused him to fall to the tenth position on the first lap. He managed to recover to finish seventh, but with a gap of over 20 seconds to the winner, Márquez.

Looking ahead to the Austrian Grand Prix, Di Giannantonio acknowledges that his morale is contradictory, as recent results do not reflect his true pace. «We have shown good speed at all circuits. It’s a shame last weekend, because I thought we had done everything right. We will arrive in Austria with a positive attitude, as we are fourth in the championship and are working well,» the rider shared.
