AJ Foyt Racing signs Dennis Hauger, winner of the Rookie of the Year award, for a multi-year contract

AJ Foyt Racing has announced the signing of Dennis Hauger, recognized as the Rookie of the Year of 2026 in the IndyCar Series. The young Norwegian driver, 23 years old, will take the number 14 car of the team, which is equipped with a Chevrolet engine, starting from the 2027 season.

Hauger made his debut in the United States in 2025, where he dominated the Indy NXT competition, achieving six victories and winning the rookie title. His trajectory in Europe includes a victory in the Italian Formula 4 championship in 2019, the FIA Formula 3 title in 2021, and five victories in FIA Formula 2, in addition to a long stint with the Red Bull Junior team.

Larry Foyt, president of the team, emphasized Hauger’s versatility as key to the long-term plan of his team. ‘Dennis has achieved a lot for being so young. Every time he has started in a new category, he has quickly adapted and won. His performance in Indy NXT as a rookie caught everyone’s attention,’ commented Foyt.

Hauger has expressed excitement about his new stage. ‘I have learned a lot during my first two years in America, but I know there is much more to learn and achieve in IndyCar. I am excited to work with a team that has so much history and for the future they are building,’ said Hauger.

Hauger’s first public appearance with AJ Foyt Racing will take place on October 2, at the GM Defense Valor & Velocity Gala, where the number 14 car will be presented. This event, which benefits the Medal of Honor Foundation, will give Hauger the opportunity to meet leaders of Homes For Our Troops, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building adapted housing for severely wounded veterans according to the September 11 war.

Foyt added that the team’s goal is to continue investing in its future and that Hauger is an essential part of this plan. ‘We are working to improve our technical and commercial capabilities because we want to keep moving forward. We are grateful to have partners like Hendricks Holding Company and Homes For Our Troops who believe in our project,’ he concluded.

The signing of Hauger represents the first of several announcements expected by AJ Foyt Racing regarding its driver lineup for the 2027 season.
