AJ Foyt Racing signs the new Rookie of the Year of IndyCar, Dennis Hauger, with a multi-year contract

AJ Foyt Racing has announced the signing of Dennis Hauger, who was named Rookie of the Year of the IndyCar Series in 2026, in a multi-year contract that will begin in the 2027 season. The 23-year-old Norwegian driver will take control of the team’s number 14 vehicle, a Chevrolet sponsored by Homes For Our Troops.

Hauger made his arrival in the United States in 2025, where he dominated Indy NXT with six victories and clinched the rookie title. Among his previous successes in Europe are the 2019 Italian Formula 4 championship, the 2021 FIA Formula 3 title, and five victories in FIA Formula 2.

Team president Larry Foyt has highlighted Hauger’s versatility as one of the main reasons for his addition. ‘Dennis has achieved a lot for his age. Whenever he has changed categories, he has quickly adapted and won. His victory in Indy NXT caught attention, and we have closely followed his progress in IndyCar,’ said Foyt.

Hauger, who competed in his rookie season with Dale Coyne Racing, expresses his excitement to join AJ Foyt Racing. ‘I have learned a lot in my first two years in America, but I know I have much to learn and achieve in IndyCar. I am excited to work with the entire team and see how far we can go together,’ he commented.

Foyt added that the team is investing in its future: ‘We want to move forward, and Dennis is an important part of this plan. With partners like Hendricks Holding Company and Homes For Our Troops, we have the opportunity to continue growing.’

Hauger’s first public appearance with the team will take place on October 2 at the GM Defense Valor & Velocity gala in Warren, Michigan. The event benefits the Medal of Honor Foundation and will feature the number 14 vehicle and members of Homes For Our Troops.

Hauger has expressed his intention to better understand the impact of the vehicle and the partnership with Homes For Our Troops, indicating that the event represents a great start to his new chapter.

With Hauger’s signing, AJ Foyt Racing anticipates more announcements regarding its driver lineup for the 2027 season as the coming weeks approach.
