Stéphane Richelmi et Jolyon Palmer proved DAMS’s strength in Spain by snatching the 1st line of the starting grid. The Monaco driver leads the way 1 tenth ahead of his teammate.
DAMS is sure liking the Barcelona setting. After Jolyon Palmer finished 1st in this morning free practice, the French team continued to put his two drivers, Stéphane Richelmi and Jolyon Palmer on top of the grid. They will start from 1 and 2 tomorrow for the 1st race of the week-end. It is the second pole position from the Monaco driver after the one he got last year in Nurburgring.
The team mates follow each other closely with only 1 tenth between each other, Riquelmi did 1’29.293 while Palmer did 1’29.421.
The second line is held by the Racing Engineering drivers Stefano Coletti (1’29.514 ) and Raffaele Marciello (1’29.650).
Williams test driver, Felipe Nasr finishes in 5th position in 1’29.698. He is followed by Russian Time driver Mitch Evans in 1’29.703 and his Carlin team mate Julián Leal.
Rookie driver Tio Ellinas (MP Motorsport) is 9th in 1’29.902 just behind Caterham driver Alexander Rossi (1’29.893) with whom he battled to hold the 8th position. Stoffel Vandoorn closes the top 10 with a time of 1’29.963.
