Christian Vietoris claimed pole position for the first race in Norisring in DTM ahead of Mattias Ekström and Jamie Green.


Everthing was done in the first part of the session as Christian Vietoris (Mercedes-AMG DTM Team Mücke) set his best time halfway through the session. Vietoris set his fastest time with a 48.144s, 0.038s faster than Mattias Ekström’s (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline) time.

Jamie Green (Audi Sport Team Rosberg) was third with a 48.194s. Championship leader, Robert Wickens (Mercedes-AMG DTM Team HWA) finished fourth ahead of best BMW car, Bruno Spengler (BMW Team MTEK), the only BMW in the top 10.

Edoardo Mortara (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline) completed the third raw ahead of Paul Di Resta (Mercedes-AMG DTM Team HWA) and Lucas Auer (Mercedes AMG DTM Team Mücke).

Mike Rockenfeller (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) and Nico Müller (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline) complete the top ten, Müller only 0.213s slower than Vietoris.

Between Christian Vietoris on pole and Esteban Ocon (Mercedes-AMG DTM Team ART) in P24 stand no more than 0.430s.
