With seven hours to go until the end of 24 hours at Daytona, the Cadillac 5 and 31, driven by Barbosa and Nasr respectively, seem to be the only candidates for victory at the moment.

What was a three-way battle has become a one on one battle. Acura 7 of Castroneves said enough when he was running second, eight and a half hours from the end. The return to normal pace after the third yellow flag of the race, placed Castroneves only six seconds behind the lead, but his car gave its first symptoms of surrender after descending surprisingly half a minute away from Barbosa. Helio entered the box and has not yet left it.

Barbosa is the leader of the race, with a lap advantage over Nasr, his main rival. In third position is the LMP2 of Bruno Senna. The United Sports car has taken advantage of the Acura problem to climb up to podium positions. With seven and a half hours to go, Hugo de Sadeleer has replaced Bruno at the driving. Juncadella, who fought precisely for that same position, has had a problem and has been almost half an hour in the box. He has lost 19 laps compared to the leader, and any choice of podium.

Alonso is in the nineteenth position. It should be remembered that he was ahead of the Ligier that is in third position right now. In fact, the Spaniard who, has been riding in this stint, has been in certain moments, the fastest driver in the grid.

In category GTLM, Bourdais and Westbrook, the two of Ford, continuously alternate the leadership of the group, followed by Antonio García, in third position.

The night stage of the race is about to end, and the sunlight begins to make an appearance. The times of the pilots in fact, are already falling.
